To the east of Amsterdam in the IJsselmeer lake an urban development design has been made, projected on an artificial archipelago: IJburg. The plan divides itself into a number of islands, each worked out by a different architect. On the Kleine Rieteiland the supervising architect is ir. John Bosch. The office has designed 8 out of the projected 140 villas themselves, as a test case for the principles of the urban plan.

Society and location

Design from the power of location. That is our starting point. This is the user involvement and socio-cultural support for the development expands.

Transport

Reducing the need for relocation and transportation and the bundling of traffic flows (public transport). Stimulation of minimum fuel and electric propulsion.

Waste

Recycling and reducing waste wherever possible is a priority. Our attention focuses on closing cycles.

Green

Carefully designed urban green space contributes to reducing energy consumption and improve the microclimate. In addition, applications such as solar orientation, wind zomer-/winterwarmte guidance and practical energy saving measures.

Water

There are many opportunities for wise use of rainwater and conserving water. Climate change and water management will be an increasingly important role.

Energy

Investing in sustainable energy and reducing waste is a necessity. In addition to sustainable architecture and innovative technology through large-scale approach is far reaching.
